Col. Matthew R. Godfrey is the Vice Commander for the 105th Airlift Wing in Newburgh, NY. Designated as Vice-Commander of an Air National Guard operational Wing converting from 13 C-5A aircraft to 9 C-17 aircraft. Directs deployment and employment of assigned personnel and equipment. Responsible for the combat readiness of assigned units by reviewing training programs and ensuring availability of necessary equipment, supplies and facilities. Responsible for over $2 billion in assets with an annual budget in excess of 60 million dollars.
Colonel Godfrey graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla. in 1988 with a B.S. in Business.
He received his commission in 1990 from Officer Training School at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas and his pilot wings in 1991 after completing Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base, Okla. Upon graduation, 2nd Lt. Lieutenant Godfrey was assigned to Stewart ANGB, N.Y., as a C-5A Pilot.
Colonel Godfrey is a Command Pilot with more than 5000 flying hours. His date of rank is Oct 1, 2007.
