The 105th Comptroller Flight made history by visiting Ramstein Air Base, Germany in its first ever deployment for training June 11-23, 2023.

The Wing’s finance flight sent subject matter experts of varying specialties to collaborate with Ramstein on military, civilian and travel pay, as well as accounting practices.

“We had never participated in a DFT before, especially since our flight is too small for its own airlift,” explained Air Force Tech. Sgt. Alejandra Luna, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge and supervisor for the flight. “Thanks to our supportive leadership, we were able to network with other offices like the Logistics Readiness Squadron, who was kind enough to let us travel with their team.”

The DFT consisted of contingency training, system process improvement and overall assistance with workflow. Members from both units were able to develop new strategies for their processes through collaboration and hands-on training.

The finance team’s travels also displayed the 105th’s priorities in improving joint abilities and putting the Total Force concept into action.

“It’s true that these experiences will last us a lifetime,” said Luna. “It felt great to see that if needed, we could deploy at any time and integrate at any finance office, showcasing our abilities as Multi-Capable Airmen.”
