Family visits cemetary
STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, N.Y. -William Belknap Sr., son William Belknap Jr., and grandson Joseph Belknap visit their old family cemetery that was previously on what is now base land Oct. 21. The Belknaps owned the property for nearly 200 years until March 17, 1942. The cemetery was moved a month later approximately 300 yards to its current location in order to expand the airport and is now considered public land. The cemetery is currently being maintained voluntarily by Lt. Col. Mona Johnson and technician David St. Germain. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Michael O’Halloran)
